Crew Team Competes in Charlie S. Brown Regatta
PORTLAND, OR — A women’s novice 8 team won its flight and the men’s varsity 4 rowed a strong race as the Willamette University crew teams competed this weekend in the 2nd Annual Charlie R. Brown Regatta on the Willamette River in Portland.
Of the 12 races in the competition — featuring teams from Lewis and Clark, UPS, PLU, the University of Portland and Willamette — the Bearcats won one race, finished second in another and third in four other races.
“We competed well for an early season race,” said coach Rodney Mott. “Our novice 8 women’s teams all raced very well and our men’s varsity four posted a very good time.”
Willamette won the 2nd/3rd Novice 8 race in a time of 18:02.
The Bearcats varsity 4 finished in fourth place, just 18 seconds behind the winning time of UPS.
