Willamette Holds First With A 3-0 Victory Over Lewis & Clark
Portland, OR- The Willamette Bearcats (14-4, 8-1 NWC) pulled out all stops against Lewis & Clark (2-13, 1-8 NWC) Tuesday night, to defend their first place lead in the NWC. The Bearcats ended the match in 3 games with scores of 30-28, 30-24, 30-26.
Each game was a seesaw battle to the finish, with game one seeing neck-in-neck scores at 20-20, 22-22, 25-25, and 28-28. The Pioneers had a late-game comeback in the second and rallied strong in the third, but fell short against the Bearcat’s intensity.
For Willamette, Lauren Thompson had 11 kills and ended the match with a .400 attack percentage. Thompson also added 5 service aces. Kristin Halleck had a match-high of 14 kills and a .364 attack percentage. Veronica Schneider defended the back court with 26 digs, while Jessica Drumm tallied up 26 assists.
For the Pioneers, Sara Kettler had 9 kills and led her team with a .389 attack percentage. Jennifer Slaton had a team-high of 11 kills and 3 aces. Audrey Dilling had a solo alongside 3 block-assists.
The Bearcats head to Pacific Lutheran University Saturday, October 16 for a 7:00pm game.
