Willamette Volleyball Pounces On Whitman For Another Win
Salem, OR- Willamette University’s volleyball team battled to another victory against Whitman College in a 3-game match Saturday evening,improving their record to 16-5 overall, 10-2 NWC.
The Bearcats remain in sole possession of second place in the Northwest Conference.
The first game was a see-saw battle to the finish, with Whitman (6-13 overall, 4-7 NWC) tying the score late into the game at 26-26 and 27-27.With the score 29-28, the Missionaries lost on a service error.
Willamette broke away in the second and third games, winning with scores of 30-19 and 30-15.
Willamette’s Angie Sammons had 20 kills and a hitting percentage of .347, while Kristin Halleck downed 18, giving her a .486 hitting percentage. Jodi Zaffino set up 43 assists, while both Veronica Schneider and Halleck dug up 21 in the backcourt.
Natalie Kramer led the Missionaries with 10 kills. Kate Borsato had 24 assists. Lyndsay Buckingham defended the court with 23 digs.
The Bearcats play their next conference match against George Fox in the Cone Field House, Friday, October 29th.
