Bearcats Beat PLU 4-0 Behind Two Goals from Tenold
SALEM OR — Allie Tenold scored a pair of goals in the final 1:30 of the first half, and Naomi Baez added a goal and an assist, as the Willamette University women’s soccer team beat Pacific Lutheran University 4-0 in a Northwest Conference match Friday afternoon at Sparks Field.
The win gives the Bearcats sole possession of third place in the Northwest Conference as they raised their record to 11-6-2 overall and 9-5-1 in the NWC. PLU fell to 8-8-2 overall and 8-6-1 in the NWC.
Tenold scored her first goal on a 45-yard shot in the 43rd minute after a pass back from Baez. She scored again just 39 seconds later when she headed in a corner kick from Kara Forsyth.
Nicole Dahl scored the Bearcat’s third goal in the 84th minute with the assist going to Laura Uhlmansiek. Baez finished the scoring with a shot into the left corner at the 84:58 mark.
Willamette out-shot PLU 16-5. Goalie Kari Woody had two saves for the Bearcats. PLU’s keeper Kim Bosley had four saves.
