Men's Basketball Drops Pre-Season Game to Albertson College

CALDWELL, Idaho- The Willamette men’s basketball team, drops a pre-season game to Albertson College 78-61 last night, at the 18th Annual Duane Wolfe Memorial Golden Rule Shoot-Out.

The Bearcats (0-1 overall, 0-0 NWC), jumped out early against the Coyotes (3-1 overall), with a score of 9-2. ‘Yotes senior Steve Humphrey sank three consecutive baskets, while teammates Joe Green and E.J. Costello contributed in regaining the lead.

Willamette was unable to catch Albertson, as the ‘Yotes dominated the first half 43-34 and continued into the second half.

For Albertson College, Humphrey scored a career-high of 22-points and 10 rebounds. Humphrey went 11-for-17 from the floor. Costello had 17 points and seven rebounds, while Rich Fried added 13 points and five rebounds to give Albertson their third win in a row.

Brennan Garrelts led the Bearcats with 10 points. Harold Sublett Jr. and Jason Luchterhand each added nine. C.J. Stuvland grabbed seven rebounds for Willamette.

The Bearcats return to the court to face Concordia College tonight at 6:00pm.
