Western Baptist Defeats Women's Basketball

SALEM, OR- Despite a game-high 22 points by Vanessa Wyffels, the Willamette University women’s basketball team dropped their second consecutive game to Western Baptist College, 74-62.

The Warriors raised their record 3-3 overall, while the Bearcats fell to 1-3.

A junior transfer from Wagner College, Wyffels went nine for 10 from the field for her 22 points, to go along with 10 rebounds. Freshman Laura Payne (pictured left) added 10 points and four rebounds while sophomore Kari Woody totaled eight points.

The Warriors were led by Jessica Steigleman’s 22 points and Erin Plotts’ 20. Jessi Schaumburg added 14 points. Steigleman sank five of six free throws while teammate Tosha Wilson was four of four.

The Bearcats travel to California, December 3 and 4 for the Cal State University Hayward Tournament.
