Willamette Cross Country Teams Perform Well At Championships
COLFAX, Wisconsin- Willamette men’s cross country team raced to a fifth place finish while the women’s team placed ninth at the 2004 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships.
The men’s team, led by senior Aaron Hollingshead (25:12.3, 13th), finished fifth out of 24 Division III schools.
The Bearcats finished Travis Harris (25:39.0) 42nd, Ian Batch (25:43.9) 48th, Carlos Ruiz (25:47.0) 52nd, Nick Symmonds (25:49.1) 54th, Nathan O’Brien (26:25.3) 92nd, and Brendan Brown (26:38.9) 112th.
Senior Kari Holbert led the women’s team, finishing 15th with a time of 22:23.5.
The women’s team finished Sarah Zerzan (22:52.7) 32nd, Molly Phimister (22:59.6) 42nd, Katie Pierce (23:39.6) 90th, Elizabeth Hart (23:56.4) 106th, Bobbi Wright (24:04.7) 115th, and Carly Killam (24:38.2) 141st.
It was the third consecutive appearance for the men’s cross country team and the second for the women, in the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships.
