Bearcats Take 66-55 Win Over NAIA's Concordia
PORTLAND, OR — Junior post Vanessa Wyffels scored 21 points and
pulled down 11 rebounds as the Willamette University women’s
basketball team beat Concordia College 66-55 in a non-conference
game Tuesday night.
Jullia Short added 17 points for Willamette as the Bearcats raised
their season record to 2-6. Cascade falls to 6-4.
The Bearcats took a 31-24 lead into halftime and used an 18-12 advantage on the offensive boards to keep the lead throughout the second half.
A double-double performance by junior forward Katie Atkins could
not
offset 27 turnovers by the Cavs. The Bearcats had 23 tournovers.
Senior Leigh-Anne Durham added 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting from
the
field.
The Bearcats play once more before the New Year, traveling to Warner Pacific next Tuesday night. Northwest Conference play begins January 7 with a home game against Pacific Lutheran.
