Knights Hold Off Bearcats, 65-60
PORTLAND, OR — Warner Pacific College took a ten point halftime lead, then held on for a 65-60 win over the Willamette University men’s basketball team Monday night in a non-conference game.
The Bearcats, despite having four players in double figures, fall to 3-6. Warner Pacific is now 8-3.
John Olinger led the Bearcats with 17 points. Drew Miller added 14. C.J. Stuvland and Brennan Garrelts each had 11 points.
The Knights were led by 17 points from Donny Woods and Jeff Eischen. Joe Hoover had 13 points as only 6 Knights scored in the game. But Warner shots 50% from the field, compared to only 36.5% for the Bearcats.
Willamette won the battle of the boards, 35-28, led by Todd Lewis’ nine boards. Wes Power led the Knights with eight rebounds.
Willamette hit 19 of 52 shots, including 9-29 from beyond the arc. Olinger hit 3-6 3-point shots. The Bearcats had 18 turnovers to 11 for Warner Pacific.
The Bearcats are idle until January 7 when they open Northwest Conference play against Pacific Lutheran University.
