Bearcat Men Over Lewis & Clark 76-55
SALEM, OR — Four Bearcat starters scored in double figures as the Willamette University men’s basketball team pulled away in the second half for a 76-55 win over Lewis & Clark College in a Northwest Conference game Tuesday night.
Drew Miller and John Olinger each had 13 points while Todd Lewis had 12 and CJ Stuvland knocked down 11. The Bearcats took a 35-31 half-time lead, then gradually pulled away in the second stanza to raise their season record to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the NWC.
Lewis and Clark falls to 4-6 on the season and 0-2 in the NWC. Thomas Tillery scored 12 points to lead the Pioneers while Travis Jones chipped in 10.
Willamette out-rebounded the Pioneers 40-32, led by Lewis’ eight boards and Jacob Barran’s seven rebounds. Brennan Garrelts added eight points and six boards.
Willamette shot 50% in both halves, ending the game 19-58. The Bearcats hit 8-10 from beyond the arc. Lewis & Clark shot 29% for the game.
The Bearcats had only nine turnovers to 12 for the Pioneers.
