Linfield Strokes Past Willamette
SALEM, OR—Seven first place finishes were not enough for Willamette to out swim Linfield in its last meet at home. It was a close race to the finish for both the women’s swim teams, ending with Linfield on top 105-101. The Wildcats swam to a 119-71 finish over the men.
Bearcats Elise Tuttle (200 yd Free, 2:04.29), Becca Fischer (400 yd IM, 4:48.28), Bridget Sutherland (100 yd Fly, 1:03.25), and Shannon Gima (100 yd Back, 1:04.13) each led the squad with first place finishes.
In their final effort for victory, Fischer, Sutherland, Tuttle, and sophomore Maggie Hake, finished on top, clocking a 1:46.95 in the 200 yd Freestyle Relay.
For the men, senior Avery Robinson brought home two first place finishes in the 100 yd Fly (55.91) and the 100 yd Breast (1:05.31) as he competed in his last home meet for the Bearcats.
Wildcats’ Andrea Thomas and Andy Peters finished with two wins each. Thomas swam for a first place finish in the 1000 yd Free (11:24.32) and the 500 yd Free (5:37.39). Peters placed first in the 1000 yd Free (10:56.18) and the 100 yd Back (1:03.88).
The Bearcats will travel to Pacific Lutheran University, Saturday, January 22, for their next conference meet.
