Williams and Sutherland Pace Bearcat Swimmers To Dual Meet Wins Over Lewis and Clark

PORTLAND, OR — Owen Williams won three individual events to pace the men and Bridget Sutherland won two for the women as both the Willamette University men’s and women’s swim team won dual meets against Lewis & Clark Saturday afternoon in Portland.

Williams notched wins in the 50 freestyle (24.12), the 200 free (1:55.90) ad the 500 free (5:22.47) as the Bearcat men defeated the Pioneers 100-76.

Sutherland won the 200 free (2:06.21) and the 200 fly (2:18.80) as the women won 108-91.

Other winners for the women included Becca Fischer in the 100 free (57.12), Jessica Lee in the 1000 free (12:02.14), and Elise Tuttle in the 500 free (5:45.80).

For the men, winners included Geoff Kruse in the 1000 free (10:48.04), David Sluss in the 200 fly (2:16.92), and Kei Otawa in the 200 breast (2:17.57).

The Bearcats finish the conference season on Feb. 11-13 at the Northwest Conference championships in Spokane.
