Bearcats' 4th After First Day of NWC Swim Championships
SPOKANE, WA — Both the Willamette University men’s and women’s swim teams stand in fourth place after the first day of the Northwest Conference swimming championships Friday night at Whitworth College. Host Whitworth leads in the men’s championships while the University of Puget Sound leads the women’s competition.
Senior Avery Robinson posted the best finish of the day for the Bearcats, finishing 4th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.09. Kei Otawa finished 7th in the 50 yard freestyle (22:16). Geoff Kruse ()5:05.11) finished 8th in the 500 free and Cason Schmit (5:09.61) finished 14th.
For the women, Brittany Thiemens was 6th in the women’s 50 yard free with a time of 26:03. Kate Miller (2:20.26) was 10th in the 200 IM. Bridget Sutherland (5:32.82) was 14th in the 500 free and Elise Tuttle was 16th in 5:35.20.
Willamette’s women finished 3rd in the 200 free relay and third in the 400 medley relay.
The men finished 4th in both the 400 IM relay and the 200 free relay.
The meet continues Saturday and Sunday at Whitworth College.
