Bearcats Rally for Win Over Lewis and Clark

SALEM, OR — Shaun Mihalik and Garrett Nakamatsu got the clinching victory with a doubles win as the Willamette University men’s tennis team took a 5-4 Northwest Conference victory over Lewis and Clark Saturday afternoon.

Mihalik and Nakamatsu’s 8-2 win over David Lindsay and Louis Nichols capped a Bearcat comeback for the second straight day. Andy Frey and Jeff Hancock also recorded a key doubles victory with an 8-1 win over Andrew Mollor and Peter Mayfield.

After losing the first three singles matches, Jeff Hancock, Mihalick and Nakamatu all won their singles matches in straight sets, giving up only a total of five games in the process.

The Bearcats then took two of the three doubles matches for the win.
