Bearcats win as Olinger and Stuvland score 22 points each
SALEM, OR — John Olinger and C.J. Stuvland each scored 22 points
as the Willamette University men’s basketball team rolled to an
83-68 Northwest Conference win over Pacific Tuesday night at the
Cone field House.
The win raises the Bearcats’ record to 7-12, 4-6 NWC. The Boxers are now 3-15, 2-8 NWC.
Post Jason Luchterhand (pictured left) hit a 3-pointer at the first half buzzer as the Bearcats came from behind to take a 34-29 lead at the break. Luchterhand scored a career-high 13 points, grabbed three rebounds and added two assists in his 16 minutes of play.
In the second half, Stuvland, Olinger and Todd Lewis took over. Lewis controlled the boards, grabbing five boards in the second half, and scoring all of his nine points after the break.
Olinger and Stuvland were a combined 17-25 shooting. Olinger hit 5 of 9 three-point shots and had five steals. Stuvland added six boards. Olinger and Drew Miller each had a team-high four assists.
For the Boxers, Brad Krichevsky led the way with 22 points and four assists. Mison Henley scored 11. Branden Kawazoe and Miles Strampe each had five rebounds.
For the game, the Bearcats shot 57.7% to 42.6% for the Boxers. Both teams had 30 rebounds. The Bearcats had 12 turnovers to 17 for Pacific.
The Bearcats hit the road this weekend , playing at George Fox on Friday and Lewis and Clark on Saturday. Both games begin at 8 p.m.
