Bearcats Finish Third at Pacific Invitational; Eaton Ties for Fifth with 79
FOREST GROVE — Dave Eaton finished tied for fifth and the Bearcat men’s golf team finished third overall in the rain-shortened Pacific Invitational played Monday at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains.
Whitworth was the only team that saw three of its players shoot under 80, claiming the team title with a combined score of 313. Andrew Parrott earned medallist honors, finishing with a 2-over-par 74 in the event's only round.
The tournament, originally scheduled for 36 holes, was shortened to 18 holes because of poor weather conditions. Steady rain in the Portland area over the weekend, as well as Monday, provided for sloppy conditions on the course.
Pacific Lutheran finished second with a combined score of 321. Chris Packard led the Lutes with his round of 77, earning runner-up honors.
Willamette finished third with 324, one stroke ahead of fourth place Puget Sound.
After Eaton’s 79, Rio Kuteira and Kris Hunt each shot 81. Baylor Falk shot 83 and Cord Jonson recorded an 84
