FOREST GROVE, OR — Laura Milne pitched four innings of shut-out ball and Molly Barnes and Cari Schruth both knocked in runs as the Willamette University softball team beat Pacific 4-2 in a split of their Saturday afternoon doubleheader.
The Boxers won the second game, 5-4 to hand the Bearcats their first Northwest Conference loss of the season.
Willamette (6-3, 5-1 NWC) opened scoring in game one when Schruth scored on a fielder’s choice. The Bearcats scored two more in the fourth, with both runs scoring on a passed ball, and plated their last run in the fifth on Shruth’s RBI single that score Lauren Andrzejewski.

In game two, despite three hits and three RBI from Schruth, the Bearcats fell 5-4. The Boxers and Bearcats each scored single runs in the third to start game two before the Boxers broke the game open in the sixth when they scored four runs.
Willamette came back to score three in the top of the seventh, but Pacific hung on for the win.
