Bearcats Win Willamette Invitational; Kuteira, Hunt and Eaton All Finish in Top Five

SALEM, OR — Rio Kuteira finished second overall and Kris Hunt was third as the Willamette University men’s golf team won the Willamette Invitational two-round tournament played Monday at Creekside Country Club in Salem.

The Bearcats’ team score of 605 beat out second place Central Oregon (609) and third place Whitworth (619). Eleven schools — including seven from the northwest Conference — competed in the event.

Kuteira (pictured left) shot a 72-76-148 over the two days, barely losing the individual title to Pacific Lutheran’s Kurt Inouye. Inouye shot a 75 on the second day to finish with a 147 and a one-stroke win over Kuteira. Kris Hunt shot 76-74 for a 150, good for third place.

Willamette’s Dave Eaton and Whitworth’s Joe Finley tied for fourth with 151. Eaton fired the low round of the second day with a 74.

Other Bearcat finishers included Paul Crissali (153), Damian Wolfgram (158), Martin Kraal (159) Baylor Falk (164), Cord Johnson (157) and Tyler Robinson (171).
