Eight Bearcats Finish First In Charles Bowles Classic
SALEM, OR — Six Bearcat men and two women took first place in their events at the annual Chuck Bowles Spring Break Classic Friday afternoon at McCulloch Stadium.
Nate Matlock had a pair of first place finishes, throwing the discus 152’11” for one win and heaving the shot put 49’10” for a second victory.
Ben Becherd won the 400 meter run in a time of 50.96 to edge out teammate Nathan Jones (51.54) for second.
Zach Larsen won the high jump clearing 6’7.5”, while Mark Conrad took the triple jump (39’9.25”).
The 5000 meter win went to Hipolito Gonzales with a time of
15:37.24. Former Bearcat All-American Jake Stout, running
unaffiliated, won the 3000 meter with a time of 9:03.24, beating
fellow cross country All-American
Aaron Hollingshead (9:10.61).
On the women’s side, Carly Killam (pictured left) took the 400 meter with a time of 59:84.
Kelsy Stolz finished first in the javelin with a throw of 128’10”.
The Bearcats compete Saturday in the Oregon Preview at the University of Oregon in Eugene, beginning at 11:30.
