Chapman Takes Win Over Willamette Baseball
ORANGE, CA- The Willamette University baseball team fell 4-0 in the second day of the Chapman Invitational against Chapman University.
Willamette lowered to 18-18 overall while Chapman (26-7) remains
undefeated for the tournament.
Chapmanās John Alexander (2-4) singled to right field to bring in
the first run for the Panthers. Jason Mooneyham crossed home plate
on an error, giving Chapman a 2-0 lead.
Both teams held each other to five scoreless innings, allowing a total of six hits and leaving nine runners on base.
The panthers broke the silence in the top of the seventh, with a double to left center from freshman Kyle Redding (2-4). Senior Scott Zine moved Redding around and Mooneyham (3-4) had an RBI to bring in Zine.
Senior Jeff Green recorded the win for the Panthers, improving to 5-2. Green pitched the entire nine innings, allowing only four hits against.
The Bearcats battle Cal-State East Bay Sunday morning with the first pitch thrown at 10:00am. Both Willamette and the Pioneers are 1-1 for the tournament.
