Pacific University Places First At The Pacific Invitational
FOREST GROVE, OR- The Pacific University women’s golf team, defending Northwest Conference champions, placed first at the Pacific Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at the Forest Hills Golf Course in Cornelius.
The Boxers were led by freshman Molly Lindbloom who finished second in the tournament with a score of 175. Juniors Kilah Sime and Sarah Shelton each shot scores of 179 to finish in a tie for fourth.
The three led the Boxers to a combined score of 736 strokes, well ahead of second place Pacific Lutheran. The Lutes finished with a score of 757 and Lewis & Clark was third at 760. Linfield was incomplete with only three golfers competing on first day, and Willamette was incomplete, only competing on the first day.
Leslie Wheeler earned medalist honors for Linfield, shooting the tournament’s lowest round each day to finish with a 167.
Willamette’s Helen Blauser completed the first day tied for fourth place with a score of 92.
The five teams along with Puget Sound, Whitman and Whitworth will meet again at the NWC Championships, next Monday and Tuesday at the Aspen Lakes Golf Course in central Oregon.
