PLU Wins Team Title At Willamette invitiational; Bearcat Women Finish Fifth
SALEM, OR — Pacific Lutherna University won the team title over the University of Puget Sound, and UPS’ Emily Lau won the individual title at the Willamette Invitational Golf Tournament played Sunday and Monday at Creekside Golf Course.
Willamette’s women’s team finished fifth in the team competition, led by Helen Blauser’s 204 and Ashley Tallmadge’s 206. Michelle Benrath shot a 213 for the two-day tourney while Ashley Buchheit shot a 226.
In the team event, PLU shot a combined 752 over the two days. UPS’ team shot 762. Linfield was well behind with an 807, followed by Whitman (820) and the Bearcats (849). Teams from Whitworth, Lewis and Clark and Pacific also competed.
In the individual competition, Lau shot 85 both days for a combined 170, six shots better than Linfield’s Leslie Wheeler (176) and PLU’s Lindy Ramstad (179).
