McGrane Named Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week
SALEM, OR- Shannon McGrane’s performance on the track have earned her the title of Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week for May 18th.
Recently at the Ken Foreman Invitational at Husky Stadium in Seattle, McGrane broke her own school record of 1:01.2 in the 400 hurdles. Her time of 1:00.95 leads the nation and nearly landed her on the All-Time Division III Top Ten List.
At the same meet, McGrane ran a 57.3 leg in the 1,600-meter relay helping the Bearcats race to a 3:54.43 finish, which currently ranks them 8th in Division III.
McGrane, a senior from Colville, WA, has competed for Willamette in the 400 hurdles, 400-meters, 1,600-meter relay, and heptathlon.
Willamette travels to Waverly, IA, May 26-28, to compete at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Nationals. McGrane looks to beat her 2003 national appearance, where she placed fourth in the 400 hurdles.
