Bearcats Drop Two To Open Season at Pacific Invitiational
FOREST GROVE, OR — The Willamette University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches as the Bearcats opened the 2005 season at the Pacific Invitational in Forest Grove Friday.
Willamette fell to the Baldwin Wallace Yellowjackets in three games in the first match Friday before taking a four-game loss from Cal State University East Bay later in the day.
In the afternoon match against Cal, the Bearcats dropped the first two games, 30-21 and 30-15, before rallying for a 30-27 win in game three. Cal won its first match of the season by taking the fourth game, 30-25.
Sophomore setter Jessica Drumm recorded 38 assists in the match. Freshmen Jessica McGraw had 15 kills and Kelly Lindstrom added 13 to lead Willamette. Senior Roni Schneider recorded 43 digs.
In the first match against Baldwin Wallace, the Bearcats fell 30-17, 30-18 and 30-21.
The Bearcats continue play Saturday at 10 a.m. against Gustavus Adolphus and at 6 p.m. versus Mt. St. Joseph.
