Bearcats Fall to Warner Pacific, 4-1; Play First Home Game Saturday Afternoon at Sparks Field.
PORTLAND, OR — J.B. Cunha scored three goals, leading Warner Pacific to a 4-1 win over the Willamette University men’s soccer team in a non-conference game Wednesday night at Warner Pacific.
Warner tallied four times in the opening half before a late goal by Luke Stein made it a 4-1 game. Reid Bennion earned the assist on Stein’s first goal of the season.
The Bearcats were out shot 33-11. Goalie Dane Meier recorded five saves.
The Bearcats fall to 2-3 on the season after winning their first two games on the road. The team opens Northwest Conference play with its first home game Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Whitworth. The Bearcats also play at home on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. against Whitman.
The Bearcat women’s soccer team also plays Saturday and Sunday against Whitworth and Whitman. Game time is noon on both days for the women’s games.
