Bressler, Seilo Score to Lead Bearcats' Win Over Augsburg
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Donald Bressler and Zach Seilo each scored goals as the Willamette University men’s soccer team raised its record to 2-0 with a 2-0 victory over Augsburg Saturday afternoon in Santa Cruz.
Bressler scored the first Willamette goal in the 29th minute when Erik Jacobsen’s shot was deflected off of an Augsburg defender to Bressler who drilled one just inside the right post. It was Jacobsen’s second assist of the season and Bressler’s first goal.
Seilo scored the second Willamette goal in the 68th minute when he headed in a perfectly placed corner kick from Mike Rodrigues.
Dane Meier (pictured above) picked up his second straight shutout as he recorded five saves. Augsburg got off 16 shots in the second half and had a 22-10 edge in shots for the game, but Meier and the Bearcat defense would not crack.
The Bearcats stay in southern California for a Monday match against UC Santa Cruz before returning to Salem for a September 10 game at Corban College.
