Kjar Leads UPS Over Willamette, 2-0
TACOMA, WA — Cortney Kjar had a goal and an assist, and Fiona Gornick added an insurance goal, as the University of Puget Sound defeated the Willamette Uiversity women’s soccer team 2-0 in a Northwest Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Kjar, the reigning NWC Offensive Player of the Week, scored an unassisted goal in the 9th minute. It was her seventh goal of the season.
Gornick scored off a Kjar corner kick in the 25th minute to ice the game for the Loggers.
UPS is now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the NWC. Willamette falls to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the NWC. Three of the Bearcat’s four losses — including today’s defeat — came at the hands of nationally ranked teams.
