UPS Takes Out Bearcats 3-0
TACOMA, WA — Greg Swanson scored two goals and added an assist, and Mark Conrad had a goal and an assist, as the University of Puget Sound defeated the Willamette University men’s soccer team 3-0 in a Northwest Conference game Saturday afternoon.
The loss drops the Bearcats to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the NWC. Puget Sound is now 3-0-2 overall, 2-0-1 NWC.
After a scoreless first half, Conrad got the game-winner less than three minutes into the second half when he converted a Swanson pass. Kyle Johnson also got an assist on the play.
Swanson and Conrad combined for the second UPS goal, this time with Swanson getting the score in the 56th minute. Swanson completed the scoring in the 68th minute off an assist from Elliot Peterson.
UPS out shot the Bearcats 21-1 in the game. Goalie Dane Meier gave up two goals and had two assists. Reed Renfrow allowed one goal and had four saves in 22 minutes for Willamette.
Brian Lawson and Pete Van Sant combined for the UPS shutout as the Logger defense did not allow a shot on goal.
