Lutes return to win column with four-game victory over Willamette
TACOMA, Wash. — Pacific Lutheran returned to the win column tonight with a 30-16, 30-20, 26-30, 31-29 victory over Willamette in the Northwest Conference match played in Olson Auditorium.
The Lutes improved to 10-7 overall, 7-3 in the conference. Willamette now stands at 1-13 overall, 1-9 in the NWC.
PLU took a 14-3 lead in the first game and coasted to the win. The Lutes grabbed a 7-3 advantage in the second game and again were never threatened.
Two Lute errors put Willamette in front 26-24 in game three and the Bearcats went on to force the fourth game.
In the fourth game there were eight ties and three lead changes before the Lutes took the lead for good at 30-29 on a Willamette attack error. Stephanie Turner's kill gave the Lutes match point.
Jessica McGraw had 16 kills and Kelley Lindstrom 12 for Willamette. Jessica Drumm tallied 43 assists and Veronica Schneider finished with a match-best 25 digs.
