Ueno Wins Women's Individual Title at South Four-Way Golf Tourney; Men's Team Finishes Third
SALEM, OR — Freshman Whitney Ueno bested the women’s field by nearly 20 strokes and the Bearcat men finished third overall at the final day of the South Four-Way Tuesday at Creekside Country Club on Tuesday.
Ueno (pictured left) shot an 80 in the final round, good for a one-shot medallist win over Linfield’s Leslie Wheeler.
The same duo finished 1-2 overall. Ueno finished the four-round event with a 269. Miller finished with 288.
Sophomore Ashley Buchheit finished seventh overall for the Bearcats.
Linfield won the team event although only two of the four teams qualified due to a lack of players. Willamette was one player short in the third round at Lewis & Clark. Pacific finished second in the team event behind Linfield.
On the men’s side, all four Bearcats shot in the 70s in the final round Tuesday and all four finished in the Top Ten of the four-round event.
Dave Eaton led the way with 75. Ben Bryant shot and Damian Wolfgram both shot 77 and Baylor Falk had a 78.
Overall, Bryant finished fourth with a 309 for the four rounds, 11 shots behind medallist Dan Cashmere of Pacific.
Eaton was 6th overall at 313. Falk was 7th at 314 and Wolfgram was 10th with a 321.
Linfield won the team event by 13 shots over Pacific, led by Kevin Phillips (2nd place overall with 306) and Kyle Henderson (5th, 311). The Bearcats finished third overall.
The women’s golf team travels to Sisters this weekend to compete in the Northwest Conference Fall Classic at Aspen Country Club.
