Zerzan Leads Women to Second Place Finish at Clackamas Meet; Batch Paces Men to Third Place
OREGON CITY, OR — Sarah Zerzan finished third behind a pair of Division I runners and Ian batch was the top men’s finishers as the Willamette University corss country team warmed up for the Northwest Conference championships at Bush Park in two weeks with strong running at the Ken Hodges Invite Saturday.
Zerzan led a pack of six Bearcat runners finishing in the top 30. She finished the 5K course in a time of 18:46.46 behind two runners from Xavier University.
Elizabeth Hart had a top ten finish with 9th place in a time of 19:21.01. Close behind were Alison Maki (11th, 19:24.76) and Lauren Sherwood (12th, 19:28.63). Katrina Brett (18, 19:49.99), Bobbi Wright (28th, 20:05. 87) and Mara Engle (29th, 20:07.24) rounded out the Bearcats top finishers.
On the men’s side, Batch’s 9th place finish (20:36.99) marked the third straight meet a different Bearcat runner led the way. Trista Knutson-Lombardo finished 15th in 20:47.34. close behind were Nick Symmonds (19th, 20:51.99), Soctt Overby (25th, 20:57.14)Travis Harris (30th, 21:11.24) and Josh Clough (21.12.23).
The Bearcat men finished third overall behind the University of Portland and the University of Washington.
The Bearcats host the NWC championships in two weeks at Bush Park. The meet begins at 10:30 a.m.
