Bearcats Fall To Pioneers in NWC Opener
Portland, OR — The cold-shooting woes continued for the Willamette University women’s basketball team as they lost an 82-37 decision to Lewis & Clark in the Northwest Conference opener for both teams.
While the Pioneers were hitting 57% of their shots, the Bearcats shot a mere 20%. Brittany Farrer led the Bearcats with 12 points and five rebounds. Vic Swigart added five pointgs and three steals, and Janelle Duyck chipped in four.
The Pioneers had three players in double figures, led by Sarah Moon’s 15. Willamette won the battle of the boards 46-34, led by Tracie Nygaard’s five rebounds.
Willamette falls to 1-3 on the young season, 0-1 in the NWC. The Pioneers are 3-2 overall, 1-0 NWC.
The Bearcats return home Saturday night as they continue NWC play against Pacific Lutheran University. Tip-off at the Cone Field House is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
