Corban Beats Bearcats
SALEM, OR — Cold shooting continued to plague the Willamette University women’s basketball team as the Bearcats lost to Corban College Tuesday night, 72-32, in a non-conference game at the Jeffers Sports Center.
Corban opened up a 7-0 lead and never looked back, taking a 35-19 lead into half-time and running away with the game after the break.
Corban was led by Brianne Carras with 13 points and six rebounds. Jessie Schaumburg and Rachel Steigleman each had 11 points, and Mandy Peterson grabbed 12 rebounds and added ten points.
Corban is now 8-1 overall; the Bearcats fall to 1-5.
Brittany Farrer led Willamette with nine points and ten rebounds. Laura Payne had seven points and six boards.
Willamette shots only 17% from the field and racked up 31 turnovers. Corban shot 46% and won the rebound battle 49-41.
Willamette hosts Concordia on Friday at the Cone Field House. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
