Fischer, Gima Lead Bearcat Women to 6th at Northwest Invitational

PORTLAND, OR — Becca Fischer continued her strong swimming, gathering up two more second place finishes, and Shannon Gima had three top-6 swims in the second and final day of the Northwest Invitational at Lewis & Clark College Saturday.

The women’s team finished 6th overall while the Bearcat men finished 7th.

Geoff Kruse had a 6th place finish in the 1650 freestyle in a time of 18:26.29. Chihiro Muroi (1:07.96) finished 6th in the 100 breaststroke and James Huang was 5th in the IM in 5:13.05.

For the women, Fischer finished 2nd in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.62) and 2nd in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.38).

Gima was 5th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.22), 6th in the 400 IM (5:09.50) and 6th in the 200 back (2:20.71).

The host Pioneers won the women’s team title. Occidental College won the men’s team competition.
