George Fox Rebounds for Win Over Bearcats

SALEM, OR — Five players scored in double figures as the George Fox Bruins rebounded from a Friday night overtime loss to hand the Willamette University women’s basketball team a 76-48 defeat Saturday night at the Cone Field House.

After falling behind early, the Bearcats pulled to within 23-19 on Brittany Farrer’s lay-in. Sarah Brooks and Jennifer Bell each had eight first half points, but the Bruins went on an 11-3 run to close out the first half and coasted to victory behind a balanced scoring attack.

Kim Leith led the Bruins with 16 points. Katy Campbell scored all eleven of her points in the first half and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. Erin Powers scored 14 points and Kaleigha Ramey (10 points) and Leissa Marek-Farris (11 points) both came off the bench to score double digits.

Willamette had three players in double figures, led by Farrer’s 13. Brooks finished with 11 points and Bell had ten points. Both had six rebounds to lead the Bearcats.

The Bruns shot 46% for the game to 27.5% for the Bearcats.

George Fox is now 14-2 overall, 5-2 NWC. Willamette falls to 5-10, 0-7 NWC. Willamette hosts Lewis and Clark Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
