Kilty, Hirsh Lead Hot-Shooting Loggers Past Bearcat Women
SALEM, OR — Kilty Keaton scored 21 points and Laura Hirsh added 20 as the University of Puget Sound Loggers swept by the Willamette University women’s basketball team 91-40 Friday night at the Cone Field House.
The Loggers (13-3, 5-2 NWC) took a 42-17 halftime lead as Hirsh scored ten of her points. The Bearcats got ten points from Laura Payne in the first half, but shot only 21%. Meanwhile, UPS shot 61% from the field in the first half.
The Bearcats’ cold-shooting woes continued in the second half while UPS was shooting 53% from the field and 60% from beyond the arc.
Payne finished with 13 points, the only Bearcat in double figures. Kari Woody added seven points and four rebounds.
For the Logger’s Karen Chase scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds. Allison Craven scored ten points with five rebounds. Sarah Carnahan was held to three points, but chipped in six rebounds and five assists.
The Bearcats (5-10, 0-7 NWC) play George Fox Saturday night at the Cone Field House. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
