Otawa Leads Bearcat Men To Dual Meet Win Over Whitman

WALLA, WALLA, WA — Kei Otawa had three first place finishes as the Willamette University men’s swim team defeated Whitman in a dual meet Friday, 83-80. Meanwhile, the Bearcat women lost their dual meet to the Missionaries, 150-52.

Otawa (pictured left) finished first in the 50 free (22:05), the 200 IM (2:09.64) and the 100 breaststroke (1:01.94). Jonoathan Goldberg won the 100 butterfly (1:03.06) to give the Bearcats their only other first place win in an individual event.

Other top finishers included Greg Henselman (2nd, 1650 free and 500 free), Pete Kahn (2nd, 200 free), James Huang (2nd, 100 fly) and Graham Smith (2nd, 100 back).

For the women, Lauren Vice finished second in the 1650 free(20:33.77) and Shannon Gima finished second in the 100 back (1:02.55).

The Bearcats swim again Saturday at Whitworth before returning home for a Monday afternoon meet against UPS and Pacific.
