Otawa's Three Wins Not Enough For Bearcats To Overcome PLU in Swin Meet

SALEM, OR — Kei Otawa had three first place finishes for the men and Bridget Sutherland won the 200 butterfly for the women, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Pacific Lutheran University Saturday afternoon as the Lutes won both ends of a dual meet at Sparks Pool.

The Lutes won the women’s meet 125-77 and the men’s meet, 103-84.

Otawa finished first in the 50-free (22.02), the 100 free (49.04) and the 200 breastroke (2:18.80) for the only Bearcat first place finishes for the men.

Sutherland was the sole women’s winner, taking the 200 fly in a time of 2:24.83. The Bearcat women won the opening race of the day, the 400 medley relay, with Shannon Gima, Jessica Lee, Chelsea Hollingsworth and Sutherland combing for the victory.

The Bearcat swim again next Friday at Linfield and Saturday at home against Lewis and Clark.
