Women's Team Defeats Lewis & Clark 8-1

SALEM, OR — The Willamette University women’s tennis team swept the singles enroute to an 8-1 victory in a Northwest Conference match against Lewis and Clark.

Tiffany Kam, Alaine Anderson, Hannah Johnson, Becca Younger and Meg Gilbert all won in straight set. Elise Helvie had to work at No. 6 singles, defeating Fanah Virani 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, (10-8).

In doubles, Anderson and Younger defeated Jessika Morales and Liz Nguyen, 8-3. Johnson and Gilbert defeated Lauren Hasimoto and Clio Beatty 8-3. The Pios averted the shutout at No. 3 doubles where Aleta Storch and Virani defeated Helvie and Kam, 8-4.

The Bearcats are now 2-3 overall, 2-2 NWC. The Pioneers fall to 0-4 overall and in the NWC.
