Anderson Scores Lone Victory as Bearcats Fall to PLU in Women's Tennis

SALEM, OR - Alaine Anderson won at No. 3 singles, but that was the only victory the Bearcats could muster as the Willamette University women's tennis team fell 8-1 to Pacific Lutheran in a Northwest Conference match Saturday afternoon at the Courthouse Athletic Club.

Anderson defeated Liz Currey 6-3, 2-6 (10-6). But the 7-4 Lutes made short work of the rest of the Bearcats, sweeping through the three doubles matches and winning in straight sets in all the remaining singles matches.

Nicole Petrzelka and Erika Feltus won singles matches at No. 1 and No. 2, then teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles match. Petrzelka defeated Tiffany Kam 6-3, 6-2 and Feltus knocked off Hannah Johnson 6-0, 6-3. The two beat Johson and Kam in doubles 8-3.

Amanda Anagura, Bria Smith and Katie Ogin all won singles matches. Anagura and Smith won at No. 2 doubles over Anderson and Becca Younger, 8-5. Currey and Currie won the No. 3 doubles match 8-3 over Meg Gilbert and Sarah Potts.

The Beacats fall to 4-7 overall, 3-6 NWC. PLU is 7-4, all in conference matches.
