Bruins Complete Sweep of Bearcats With 11-2 Win
SALEM, OR - The George Fox Bruins continued their hot-hitting ways, pounding out 15 hits en route to an 11-2 win over the Willamette University baseball team and a sweep of the three game series.
The Bruins won game two of the series 9-0, completing the last inning of the game suspended by darkness Sunday before Monday's final game.
The Bruins take over first place in the Northwest Conference with a 9-3 conference record and improve to 15-6 overall. Willamette falls to 13-10, 8-7 NWC and plays Corban college Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game.
Bryan Donohue was 4-5 with four runs scored. Designated hitter Derrick Jones was 3-4 with three RBI and Ryan Fobert added a two run home run to pace the Bruins. Nick Hedgecock pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and one earned run.
Matt Johnson has three hits for the Bearcats and scored one run. Sean Anderson's sacrifice fly drove home Ellis Webster with the Bearcats first run.
Tye Sundlee took the loss for Willamette. Matt Bicocca and Anton Chiono each pitched two innings and allowed one run.
After Tuesday's game against Corban, the Bearcats travel to Linfield College for a three game series on Saturday and Sunday.
