Gilmore Named Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week; Kam, Paccione, Hale and Gilmore earn All-NWC Honrable Mention Honors

Bearcat baseball player Kelly Gilmore has been named the Statesman Journal Athelte of the Week for his performance over the weekend against Lewis & Clark. Gilmore was also named NWC Honorable Mention for the week.

Other Bearcasts earning honorable mention NWC honors include Fitz Paccione and Tiffany Kam (pictured left) from the Bearcat tennis teams and softball first baseman Geneva Hale.

Gilmore went 7 for 13 with seven RBIs and five runs in helping the Bearcats win two of three from Lewis & Clark College. He was 2 for 5 with a bases-loaded double and home run for four RBIs in a 10-6 win Saturday, and was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs in a 13-2 win Sunday.

Paccione and Kam both won three of four matches over the weekend. The Bearcat men went 1-1 against Northwest Conference foes, picking up the first collegiate victory for new men’s tennis coach Jon Endrikat. Paccione won both his singles matches, including a key contest against Lewis& Clark that started a Bearcat comeback.

Kam also won three of her four matches. Playing at No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles, Kam helped the Bearcats to NWC wins against George Fox and Lewis 7 Clark over the weekend.

Hale led the Bearcats to a 2-2 record in the Capitol Cup Classic hosted by Willamette this past weekend. Hale hit .333 over the four games, blasting two home runs, driving in a team-high ten runs and scoring five times. Three of Hale’s five hits went for extra bases.
