Ueno, Ushikubo Grab Top Two Spots in Willamette Invitational
SALEM, OR - Willamette freshmen Whitney Ueno and May Ushikubo took the the top two spots after the opening nine holes of the Willamette Invitational played Sunday afternoon at Illahee Country Club.Ueno fired a 40 to lead all players in the five-team event hosted by the Bearcats. Ushikubo was one shot behind at 41. The final 27 holes will be played on Monday.
Pacific leads the team competitions with a 179, led by Kelly Hartley and Kelly Curtan. Hartley is in fourth in the individual hunt with a 43. Curtan is one shot behind at 44.
Leslie Wheeler of Linfield is in third place, two strokes behind Ueno. Linfield's team is in second with a 189 and the Bearcats are in third place with a 194.
