Ueno, Zerzan Earn All-NWC Athlete of the Week Honors
Freshman golfer Whitney Ueno and sophomore runner Sarah Zerzan have been named Northwest Conference Athletes of the week for their performances over the weekend.
Zerzan broke a 21-year-old school record by winning the 5K race at this weekend’s Willamette Opener Track and Field Meet. She ran a time of 17:14.57.
Ueno continued her impressive streak of wins at NWC tournaments as she won the Lewis & Clark Invite by two shots, firing a 164 over the two rounds played at Langdon Farms Golf Course. Trailing by six shots at the end of the first day, Ueno shot a second round 78 to come back and win.
Other athletes honored for the work during the past week included Grant Yamaguchi and Kelsey Nakata (baseball), Liz Gilgan and Nikki Franchi (softball), Alaine Anderson and Shaun Mihalik (tennis), and Alana Pledger and Steve Wilbon (field events).
