Whitworth Takes Last Three singles Matches to Foil Bearcats
Despite winning the first three singles matches, the Willamette University women’s tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to the Whitworth Pirates Friday night at the Courthouse Athletic Club.
Singles wins, all in straight sets, by Tiffany Kam, Alaine Anderson and Hannah Johnson gave the Bearcats a solid shot at beating a Northwest Conference foe with the same record.
But Whitworth rebounded, winning the last three singles matches and all three doubles matches to inprove to 4-3 in the NWC. Willamette falls to 3-4 in conference play.
Taryn Smith, Chelsea Sweetin and Rachel McCoola all won straight set victories for the Pirates in sigles.
