Women's Tennis Comes Back To Defeat Albertson As Younger and Gilbert Win Late Singles Matches
SALEM, OR - The Willamette University women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches, then used the singles victories of Meg Gilbert and Becca Younger to take a 5-4 win over Albertson College Friday at the Courthouse Tennis Center.Albertson won the No. 1 doubles match and took singles victories at No 1 and No 2 singles. But the Bearcats came back for the victory.
Alaine Anderson and Becca Younger took the No. 2 doubles match, 8-3. Meg Gilbert and Sarah Potts put the Bearcats in front with an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
After Albertson came back to take the match lead, Hannah Johnson evened the score at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Younger won at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-4. Finally, Meg Gilbert got the clinching victory at No. 6, winning 6-0, 6-1.
