Bearcat Women Qualify For NWC Tournament With 6-3 Victory Over Lewis & ClarkPORTLAND, OR - The Willamette University women's tennis team qualified for the Northwest Conference post-season tournament, defeating Lewis & Clark 6-3 in a match Saturday in Portland.
The Bearcats won two of three doubles matches, then solidified the win with victories in four of the six singles matches. Tiffany Kam, Alaine Anderson and Meg Gilbert all won singles and doubles matches to pace the Bearcats.
Sophomore Tiffany Kam beat Jill Valdez, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. She also teamed with Hannah Johnson to win at No. 1 doubles, 9-7.
Alaine Anderson beat Liz Nguyen at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Anderson and Meg Gilbert teamed up to win the No. 3 doubles match, 8-1.
Christy Newell won a tight match at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 3-6 (10-8) and Meg Gilbert swept Becky Corcoran at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
