Bearcats Edge Closer to Post-Season Berth Win 7-0 Win Over Pacific

FOREST GROVE, OR - Fitz Paccione moved up to No. 1 singles and took a two-set win as the Willamette University tennis team did not drop a single set in defeating Pacific University 7-0 in a Northwest Conference match Wednesday at Forest Grove.

Paccione beat Ashten Kawabe 6-2, 6-0 and teamed with Alex Sepenzis at No. 3 doubles to win 8-0. Shaun Mihalik won at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and joined up with Eric MacMillan to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-1. David Reichert and Geoff Klein both had straight set wins at No. 3 and No. 4 doubles respectively, and teamed up to win at No. 2 doubles 8-3.

Dmitiry Semeniakian and Reid Snowden completed the sweep; both winning singes match 6-0, 6-0.

The Bearcats are now 4-8 overall and in sixth place in the NWC. The top six teams advance to the post-season NWC Championships.
