Bearcats Lose Seventh Straight to Linfield, 6-0MCMINNVILLE, OR - Even the opening day of Major League baseball couldn't shake the doldrums from the Willamette University baseball team as the Bearcats lost their seventh straight game, this time to Linfield College, 6-0, in a make-up game Monday.
Jordon Rasmussen limited Willamette (13-13, 8-10 NWC) to two hits, one by Kelly Gilmore and another by Grant Yamaguchi.
Meanwhile, Linfield (15-9, 9-3 NWC) scored single runs in the second and third innings, then iced the game with a four-run seventh highlighted by three walks, an eroor and Ty Stanley's two-run single.
Tye Sundlee took the loss for the Bearcats, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing seven hits, six runs (four earned), striking out seven and walking seven.
Willamette looks to get back to the plus side of .500 when they host Whitworth in a three-game set beginning with a doubleheader Saturday against Whitworth beginning at noon.
