Freshmen Holcomb and Ueno Win Player of the Week HonorsA pair of freshmen - LaShawna Holcomb and Whitney Ueno - earned Northwest Conference Player of the Week honors for their efforts over the weekend.
Holcom, a center fielder from Renton, WA, led the Bearcat softball team to a four-game sweep over the weekend, hitting .467 (7-15), two triples, a home run and a double. She drove in eight runs and scored five times. Her eighth-inning triple drove home the winning run against Lewis and Clark Sunday afternoon.
Ueno has become a regular atop the leader-board of Northwest Conference golf tournaments. The freshman from Hilo, HA, won the Pacific Invitational, shooting a 165 (84-81) to win by two strokes.
Other Bearcats receiving honorable mention awards included: Lucan Nebert, Andrea May, Wes Randall and Melinda Fahey (track and field), Hannah Johnson and Eric MacMillan (tennis), Kyle Stalker and Nic Nottingham (baseball), and Blair Cuny (softball).
